Coronavirus: Central Government has given a package of so many crores for the poor, know who got what




 New Delhi:  Coronavirus: The government has announced a Prime Minister's Poor Welfare Relief Package of Rs one lakh 70 thousand crore for migrant laborers and poor affected by Kovid-19. Addressing a correspondent in New Delhi on Thursday, Finance Minister Sitaraman said that a sum of Rs 50 lakh would also be insured for three months for people belonging to different categories of corona. These include doctors, para-workers, health workers, scavengers and ASHA workers.    

The Finance Minister said that 80 crore people will be provided five kilograms of rice or wheat free for the next three months. This will be in addition to the 5 kg ration being given at this time. In addition, one kilo of lentils will also be given free to each family.


The Finance Minister also informed that under the current Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojana eight crore 70 lakh farmers and others will be deposited Rs.2000 in their account by the first week of April. This will benefit a large number of people receiving poverty pension including poor widows, PwDs, women belonging to self-help groups and women availing the Ujjwala scheme. The Finance Minister also announced an increase in the wages of MNREGA workers, which will benefit 5 crore families.


Senior citizens, widows and PwDs will be provided ad-hoc grants in two installments of one thousand rupees during the next three months. This will benefit about three crore poor senior citizens, widows and disabled persons.
